Since 1990 s, part of academism choreographers have gone out of the “state-system” to explore Chinese modern dance, Gaoyanjinzi is one of greats. After graduates from modern dance program of Beijing Dance Academy in 1991, as a co-founder of Beijing Modern Dance Company, she created her magnum opus “Midnight·Willing” and many excellent dance works and soon stood out of company and became the dominant force ofChinese Modern Dance. Since 2005, Gaoyanjinzi take over as Artistic Director in Beijing Modern Dance Company from Jinxing and Cao Chengyuan.The creation of Chinese modern dance gone through the “mirroring and exploring”period from the thoughts and skills of Western modern dance to the “embedding with local culture”, during the whole progress, the key point in artistic of dance is the creation body, whereas theprimary of how to creation the dance works is depends on the Artistic Director's spontaneous and conscious individual choice.Therefore, to make a commentary on Chinese modern dance cannot cut off the case study of the dance choreography. Advance with times, the creation body of the Chinese modern dance gradually established the sense of “localization” by accepted and digested the Western modern dance. Differ from the beginning of the Western modern dancer tried to overturning tradition, in the context of era, Chinese modern dancer reach after the traditional culture icon, and grow together with the specific local culture.This paper explores the practice and philosophy of Gaoyanjinzi's creative works, analysis from the dance form, tried to probe into how the Chinese modern dancers melting the independent personality with the traditional culture to “integrated innovation”. To analyzes the influence for the creation philosophy, in order to keep concern about the ideas and philosophy of the creation body in the modern dance. To some extent, the philosophy of the "integrated innovation" herald Chinese modern dance has been become mature step by step, on the one hand, it has draw nutrition from the extensive and profound Chinese culture, on the other hand, to innovate with independent personal consciousness. To creation the Chinese modern dance works should be focused on the feeling of real life, the return of the characters' inner voice and the dance ontology, with modern thinking to reflect the Chinese traditional culture. The case study of Gaoyanjinzi's creation not only offer aesthetic pursuit for creation the Chinese modern dance, also provide an identity to cultural orientation for research the Chinese modern dance.
