Intertextuality In Wild Cats

Tatyana Tolstaya is a famous Russian writer, who began writing in the early 1980 s and published more than twenty short stories and a novel. Her works are very popular with readers and researchers. The creative work of The Slynx lasted 14 years. Its publication either for the Russian or for the writer had a significant impact.“Intertextuality” was proposed by the French poststructuralist scientist Julia Kristeva in 1966. It denotes a determining interaction of reference and mapping relationship between a text and other texts. Literally speaking, every text is transformed from other texts and cross-referenced by other texts. Since it was first coined by Julia Kristeva, the definition of intertextuality has been continuously improved and developed. Now it has become one of the most popular theories in literary criticism and a new method for reading literary works. This paper studies The Slynx from a perspective of intertextuality, which can help readers to find more intertexts and deepen their understanding of the connotation of the novel.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part summarizes the research status of The Slynx at home and abroad. The second part analyzes the creative features of Tolstaya and briefly introduces the theory of intertextuality. The third part analyzes the intertextuality skills, including citation, allusion and parody. The last part analyzes the intertextuality of The Slynx and Russian fairy tales, anti-utopia work 1984.
