For many years, the ultimate goal for translation teaching is to develop student translators' translation competence and satisfy the market demand. Therefore, as the core element of translation competence, it is crucial to emphasis on the cultivation of strategic competence in translation. Applying project-based teaching approach into translation class has provided new perspectives for the improvement of students' strategic competence. On the basis of project-based learning of the Constructivism School, referring to Don Kiraly's project-based teaching experiment, the thesis attempts to put forward the content of project-based translation teaching model, and foster students' strategic competence in translation through actively participation in the project. According to the analysis of the data collected for the experiment, it is concluded that project-based teaching approach can better heighten students' strategic competence and thus improve the quality of the overall texts. The study has explored the feasibility of applying project-based teaching approach to translation class and provides evidence for the effectiveness of project-based teaching approach in developing students' strategic competence in translation, which is valuable for curriculum reform in translation teaching to some extent.
