This translation report is about the Chinese translation practice of Trade Mark Bureaucracies. In the process, the author has realized that translation competence is not only manifested by bilingual sub-competence, but contains some other sub-competences. Among relevant researches on translation competence at home or abroad, the PACTE Translation Competence Model proves to be an influential comprehensive summary. Therefore, under the PACTE Translation Competence Model, the author has adopted the strategy of “domestication” under the strategic sub-competence, and has accomplished the translation of legal terminology and long sentences by way of instrumental sub-competence and knowledge about translation respectively. Then the author has updated and upgraded trademark knowledge under extra-linguistic sub-competence. Integrating with psycho-physiological components, the author further has constructed a competence model for translating the scholarly juristic works, aiming at providing some insights for those who do translation of the similar juristic texts.
