Solfeggio teaching in China has been conducted based on the basic theory and the teaching system of western music. There are new trends of Solfeggio teaching emerging currently after 100 years of development, which are mainly shown as: to construct three aspects, the aesthetic education in Solfeggio teaching, as well as nationalization and diversification of Solfeggio teaching. With the purpose of rehearsing and inheriting Chinese traditional music, the major of folk music boasts distinctive characteristics in Solfeggio teaching compared with the majors of performance, theory and others, which are shown as the first tone musical thinking of students majored in folk music. Students take traditional Chinese music as a fundamental while learning the mode, rhythm and pitch system of western music during the Solfeggio teaching of folk music, allowing them to understand the instrument and music they learn through traditional Chinese musical thinking modes. Through the study of the traditional Chinese music in Solfeggio teaching, the students are able to make precise interpretation and manifestation of Chinese musical works, and take sightsinging, auditory discrimination, and dictation of traditional Chinese music as the major content on the basis of traditional Chinese music. But it doesn't mean completely abandoning the teaching content in the western music system. Compared with Chinese music, the western music system still has its advantages. Therefore, in Solfeggio teaching for the major of folk music, the west and the Chinese should be both considered, to truly manage “utilization of the west in Chinese forms”...
