The research uses the method of repeated reading in alphabetic writing for reference in order to study repeated reading.It selects Chinese as investigation materials,explores and compares the characteristics of eye movement behaviors in repeated reading task.Experiment 1 compares word frequency effect and the characteristics of eye movement behaviors in repeated reading tasks.Participants are required to repeat reading a passage twice and answer questions according to the passage.In total,participants read 16 passages and among them each passage contains a high frequency or low frequency target word.The target words are near-synonyms or synonyms,so the meaning of passages is under control.Experimental results reveal significant rereading effect and word frequency effect.Compared with the second reading,the participants have longer reading time,smaller saccade amplitude and more fixation counts in the first reading.Experiment 2 compares word predictability effect and the characteristics of eye movement behaviors in repeated reading tasks.The reading tasks are same as Experiment 1,but replacing the target words with high and low prediction words which have same or similar meanings.Experimental results reveal that compared with the second reading,the participants have longer reading time,smaller saccade amplitude and more fixation counts in the first reading.The following main results are:(1)Repeated reading task can promote reader to process and integration text,there is rereading effect during Chinese reading.(2)During Chinese text reading,there is no interaction effect between word frequency and repeated reading task,this points out that the rereading effect in text are different in a single word.Text reading can adjust rereading effect.(3)Under repeated reading task,readers tend to process and integration the whole text,they also tend to inspire more resources to process more useful and understandable information in order to promote the understanding of the whole text.(4)There is no word predictability effect during Chinese repeated reading.This indicated that during Chinese text reading,readers are pay more attention to process the whole text,the local information will not affect the processing and understanding of the whole text.
