English reading plays an important role in people's daily life.Researchers have made a lot of researches on eye movement in English reading, such as the influence of word frequency, reading level, and reading task. These researchers have provided much evidences for eye movement control. This study was based on Chinese students whose first language were Chinese and the second language were English.According to their College English Test scores, they were divided into high-level group and low-level group, asking them to read two different task(normal reading task, proofreading task),where the English sentence contained high or low frequency target words. At the same time,we used the eye tracker to record the data of eye movement during two different reading tasks,so as to discuss the word frequency effect expressed by different reading levels in different reading tasks. The participants were thirty-four undergraduates and graduates. The experimental design was 2(English reading level:high and low)× 2(reading task:normal reading, proofreading)× 2(target word frequency:high, low). The experimental data were analyzed by Repeated Measures Analysis of Variance. The experimental results showed as follows.(1)The readers' level influenced the word frequency effects in the English reading.(2)The reading tasks influenced the word frequency effects in the English reading.(3)The readers' level effects changed magnitude across tasks, and the reading tasks effect was more significant for the high-level group.
