As a highly anticipated relatively new subject,Contemporary Urban Landscape Painting has been developed for about 20 years.While there isn't much study about its territory,which is one of the main reasons this article focuses on the formal language development in Urban Landscape Painting.Although the concept of Urban Landscape Painting only came up in 1970 s,painting of urban landscape topics could actually date back to ancient times.The first chapter starts with ancient painting on urban landscape,to indicate there are not only boundary paintings about architecture,but also genre paintings of city life.Then follows with the representative works of contemporary urban landscape paintings,from which you will sense the formal language differences between traditional and contemporary paintings.The second chapter begins with the proposal,the initial formation and the development of Urban Landscape Painting concept.Through some examples of works from 1980 s to 1990 s,you will see artists' exploration and bold attempt on this new subject.The rapid development of city itself as well as diverse social integration provide more possibilities to the overall appearance of paintings.The third chapter analyzes the spiritual connotation,although being far from the ancient scholars,modern people sharing the same spirit of seeking independence and equality.On the appearance of Contemporary Urban Landscape works,analyzing how to create works in line with the times,while maintaining the national character,by shown of examples and commentating standards.
