Richard Strauss(1864-1949) is a German composer, conductor. In up to 80 years of artistic career, in addition to the creation of symphonic poems, operas and other large genre, in the field of symphonies, concertos, and art songs also made great achievements. As the inheritors of the 20 th century German and Austrian art songs, writing prolific is more high quality, and listed as following Schubert, Brahms, Wagner, Wolff, and the others in Germany and a great art song writer and his works for numerous international vocal competition, vocal artist column must track.This paper studied the 39 art songs, covers all songs written by Richard Strauss. The choices of lyrics in the same period are not very well known poet poetry, mapping out the composer notfawn upon the rich and powerful persons, grandstanding introverted, and he is confidence in composition techniques; staged frequently works reflect audience to favorite works to the deep, it is also the composer in the creative field superb attainments recognized.The paper is divided into four chapters, respectively from the harmony material, harmony, modulation and tonality layout of multiple angle of Richard Strauss' s art songs for analysis and research, and try to reveal the harmony in the art song composers in the creation of the role of performance. At the same time, according to the composer of traditional harmony of materials inherited and innovation, and to explore the modal expansion and modal infiltration in the unique style technique.
