Cheng Baoyi is a Chinese French poet, novelist, essayist, and member of French Academy. With the deep of the deep manifestation of the human destiny, his first French novel, Words of Tianyi has been rewarded the Prix Femina as soon as the publication. It has been translated in many languages and has been widely spreading in Europe, America and East Asia.Words of Tianyi is consisted of three parts:the epic beginning, the turning progress and the mythical ending. The novel describes the experience of Tianyi, including his childhood, his friendship with Haolang, his love with Yumei, devotion to painting, travel around Europe, experience of exile, death of Yumei, reunion with Haolang in Beidahuang, and death of Haolang. The novel reveals everywhere inside of Chinese traditional culture, which shows that the Taoism with the centre of ternary "Yin-Yang-Chongxu" is the foundation of Chinese Aesthetics theory. The writer obviously expresses his agreement with this aesthetic and he considers that it as "the best essence of Chinese culture". So Taoism in this writing is obvious, but there is more hiding Confucianism which is worth being excavated. The writer himself has said many times that the influence of Confucianism culture to other works is natural.Seeing that most current researches focus on the Taoism or Sino-foreign cultural exchanges, without some articles focused on the principal part of Chinese culture, namely the Confucianism and Taoism, now therefore, based on the theory of complementation of Confucianism and Taoism, this paper intends to sort out and expound the Chinese cultural ingredients in the novel Words of Tianyi, in order to explore the regulation of Chinese culture communicating, from the following aspects: educational thought of Confucianism, from duality to ternary, the importance of Yin, the intercultural conversation, the epitome of a generation of vagrant men of letters.
