Hengyang County Dialect Vocabulary Research

Hengyang dialect belongs to the Xiang Dialect Area.Surrounded by the Xiang languages in nouthern Hunan,central Hunan and southern Hunan and the Gan languages,the Kejia languages in estern Hunan and southern Hunan,Hengyang dialect somewhat have local features.This article takes the vocabulary of Hengyang dialect as the object of study,with a comprehensive survey and a detaild description of it,this article try to explore the features of the vocabulary of Hengyang dialect in the aspects of etymology, motivation and word formation.In the meantime,comparing the vocabulary of Hengyang dialect with the vocabulary of Changsha dialect and Shuangfeng dialect,finding out the differences,and revealing the commonality and individuality of the vocabulary of Hengyang dialect.This article is divided into five sections.The first section is a preface,it briefly introduces the aim,methodology,research object and scope,the current research status and significance of this thesis.The second section describes the general picture of the vocabulary of Hengyang dialect,includes the geographic locations and history of Hengyang and the voice system of Hengyang dialect.The third section mainly describes the features of the vocabulary of Hengyang dialect from three parts: etymology, motivation and word formation.The fourth section compares the vocabulary of Hengyang dialect with the vocabulary of Changsha dialect and Shuangfeng dialect,describes their similarities and differences,analyzes their different forms and the main differential reasons.The last section make a summing up and make the shortage and some issues which need a further study.
