Artists talking about art and creating art,the essence of art is actually the artist.“There really is no such thing as Art.There are only artists.Once these were men who took colored earth and roughed out the forms of a bison on the wall of a cave;today some buy their paints,and design posters for the hoardings.” Says Gombrich.Artists as a producer of art,not just paintings,semi-finished or finished products,as long as it is by artists' hand is called art,the reason why is the identity of the artists' role in them.An outward manifestation of identity of the artist is artist of its own identity selection and positioning,and the identity of the artist has a different manifestation in different historical periods.Early artists were wizard,then artisan.Gradually to the Renaissance artist's identity was recognized and respected.The identity of the artist was accepted by the public and be valued and affirmed.Movies create director,but the emergence of video art brings a new phenomenon on the identity of the creator,that is creator is both director and artist.Since then to the contemporary image art,the identity of artist become multiple from single.What is the reason for the change in the identity of the artist in contemporary context?
