Narrative Painting: From Objective Narrative To Spiritual Narrative

The narrative storytelling as one of the most common and basic method in terms of habits,needs,ways of communication,as well as instinct,existed as early as human childhood.It exists together with the human history and it exists anywhere with any type of art and material for narration.It exists in myths,legends,fables,epic novels,comedy,pantomime,painting,and much more.In the art of literature narrative,history always occupies a very important position.I am about to study the narrative painting as one of the most important one,and this paper aims to explore the inheritance and innovation of narrative paintings,as well as the direction of narrative paintings in today's art scene as well as other issues.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part summarizes the rise and fall of the traditional realistic narrative painting,draws the conclusion that they,in the age of new philosophy,culture,and literary thought in modern society have become a secondary form of storytelling since the invention of the camera.The second part summarizes the narrative paintings in contemporary development,and I additionally advocate for adaptation to the development of more unique and more un-conventional narrative paintings;more unique and more un-conventional narrative painting is different from the abstract non-narrative painting in that it has decorative and extreme form,and it is different from the traditional narrative paintings that often imprints in a straightforward fashion,namely,from objective narrative to soul narrative.The third part,starting from the creation in practice,I explore the innovation of new narrative paintings mainly from different subject matters,thought connotations,roles and details,space layouts,and discuss the specific practical problems such as atmosphere and color ratio.In summary,this article is intended to explore how the narrative painting can be more in line with today's aesthetic needs,to absorb the traditional essence,but with completely fresh modern style and culture.
