On The Use Of Sword Dance In Chinese Classical Dance

Sword is an ancient Chinese cold arm which has a long history.At the same time,sword dance is a kind of dance form that combines the classical form of fencing and waving from art of swordsmanship,body language of sword dance in sacrificial practices and other elements.During the Tang and Song dynasties,the grand nationality combination promoted the great development of sword dance.At first,it was a form of dance consisted of four members and gradually became group dance in the late Tang dynasty and court-ball one in Song dynasty.And women can also join in this kind of dance from that time.Since ancient times,there are many famous dancers good at sword dance in China such as Aunt Gong Sun and a lot of poems that praised it.Nowadays,as a classical form,sword dance has already become one of the compulsory courses in college and attracted a growing number of dancers to practice and learn.And all of those above made sword dance the brightest star of Chinese classical dance.Sword dance is unique art and culture of Chinese nation,this thesis gives analysis of its using in performance combined with body language and sword using in martial arts from classical dance.Shape,romantic charm,strength and rhyme are four major elements of sword dance in Chinese classical dance and should be grasped by dancer.A series of swordsmanship such as sticking and touching are wonderful in martial arts and adequately express the emotions of performer.Sword waving are specific element of sword dance and directly determines the performance effect.Therefore,a dancer should accurately find the point of strength and emphasize the circle-route of it.Good competence of sword waving means excellent performance.In this thesis,the author will choose a perspective from Chinese classical dance and then give further analysis and study of sword dance from its origin,body language in Chinese classical dance,skills using,style characteristics and artistic form through years of learning and performance experience,and thus master the skills of sword dance in a better way and gather theoretical knowledge to enhance professional competence and apply Chinese classical sword dance in performance better.
