The Belt and Road Initiative regards "peace,cooperation,development and win-win" as its core concepts and takes "policy coordination,facilities connectivity,unimpeded trade,financial integration and people-to-people bond" as key points of cooperation,to promote the interconnection and coupling of development strategies from countries along the Belt and Road,enhance different civilizations' cultural exchanges and mutual learning and create a community of shared future for mankind.Confucius Institute can boost the Belt and Road Initiative by promoting people-to-people bond and pushing forward it to make substantial progress.Russia is an important country on the Silk Road Economic Belt.Therefore,based on the materials from Confucius Institute Conference 2015,Confucius Institute Annual Development Report in 2016,and news material from Confucius Institute's official website and other websites,combined with interviews with some Chinese directors of the Confucius Institute in Russia as well as Chinese volunteers and local teachers,this thesis takes Confucius Institute in Russia as a case study and investigates the current situation of Confucius Institute's cross-cultural communication in countries along the Belt and Road,analyzes the opportunities and problems confronted with,and then puts forward the development countermeasures for Confucius Institute.The main body of this thesis consists of seven chapters:First,it is introduction.It includes the research background,research significance,research methods,theoretical basis,research ideas as well as framework of the thesis.Chapter one is literature review which introduces the domestic and foreign academic research on Confucius Institute respectively.Among them,It focus on the domestic researches on Confucius Institute,including the relevant studies of the different stages of the Confucius Institute,the Belt and Road Initiative and Confucius Institute,and the Confucius Institute in Russia.And then it makes a comprehensive review of the previous studies and puts forward the innovation of this paper.Chapter two presents the current situation of the Russian Confucius Institutes'cross cultural communication along the Belt and Road.Through data analysis and interview research methods,this paper analyzes the current situation,characteristics and causes of the Russian Confucius Institutes' intercultural communication from six aspects,including the basic situation,teaching situation,teacher's configuration,cultural activities,the key projects,the source of funds.Chapter Three discusses the new opportunities that Russian Confucius Institutes'cross cultural communication faces under the background of the Belt and Road Initiative.That is,the political mutual trust between China and Russia has gradually strengthened and lays a solid foundation for the development of Confucius Institute;strategic cooperation between the two countries provides new impetus for the development of Confucius Institute;and cultural exchanges between the two countries boosts the Confucius Institute to a higher-level development.Chapter Four studies the new problems that occurs during the Russian Confucius Institutes' cross cultural communication under the Belt and Road Initiative.It brings up the following problems:First,in terms of planning and construction,the overall number of Confucius institutes is relatively small and the layout is unscientific;secondly,in terms of Chinese language teaching,curriculum setting is not diversified and lacks applied Chinese courses,Chinese Linguistics Course or Contemporary Chinese culture course,the allocation of teachers strength is relatively weak and the pertinence of teaching materials is not strong;thirdly,in terms of cultural communication,the level of communication content is not high,the way of communication needs to be innovated and the channel of communication is still single;fourthly,in terms of the source of funds,independent incomes are rather limited,supports and participation from social groups are less,and the inputs from the foreign party are relatively small.Chapter Five provides new strategies for Confucius Institutes in countries along the Belt and Road during cross cultural communication.Based on the problems existing in Confucius Institute and the development opportunities it faces,this paper puts forward some countermeasures:planning the development of Confucius Institute comprehensively and integrating into the Belt and Road construction;accelerating the localization process of Confucius Institute and achieving healthy and sustainable development;Actively innovating the mode of cross-cultural communication and deepening people-to-people bond to build a prosperous silk road;further expanding the sources of funds and ensuring the continuous force to share achievements of the silk road.Conclusion.It involves research summary,innovation and the limitations of this thesis.
