| Mikhail Prishvin, known as the "pioneer of Russian ecological literature",is a very unique writer in the history of Soviet literature in the twentieth century. He gave priority to the delineation of nature in his works in order to explore the relationship between human and nature in depth, instead of superficiality, which presented a picture of harmony. However,Prishvin, who is often regarded as a "children’s literature writer",has not received due attention in China. The critics ignored the profound thoughts of his literary output intentionally or unintentionally when he was first introduced.Fortunately,The ecological value of the Pristian works has gradually been excavated with time elapsing, and by degrees he turned into an "ecological literature writer" after the reform and openness.Prishvin highly praised the Chinese traditional nature viewpoint, and wrote one of his masterpieces ginseng in the 1930’s.The novel is about a Russian soldier who participated in the Russo-Japanese War and his encounters in the Manchuria border between China and Russia. There are many typical beings of Chinese culture which deemed to be important imagery. The book also characterized an idealized image of Chinese named Lu Wen to show Chinese traditional concept of nature by praising his behavior, and regarded him as the ideal of Prishvin’s natural view.As mentioned earlier,Prishvin showed his ideal view of nature mainly sum up as "family-like concern" and the thought of "unity of things" in ginseng.By today’s standard,it’s truly advancing, but there are also paradoxes, which embodied his limitations for social interaction across cultures and eras as a pioneer of ecological literature. This thesis is constituted by three parts.First of all,I’d like to summarize the current situation of Prishvin’s research in China so as to solve two problems: Firstly, verifying when was Prishvin’s works primitively translated into Chinese;Secondly, the Chinese scholars’ research on him and its change. The earliest entry of the Prishvin’s works was in 1947 when both North and South publishers published his work, which was very rare for Chinese writers.Prishvin’s works entered China as children’s literature, and eventually became the representative of the Russian ecological literature writer.I try to analyze the change of Prishvin’s research from the development of ecology literature in China. The second part is the keynote of this paper.Based on the Prishvin’s representative as ginseng,I attempt to analyzes the writing on China which mainly deals with two problems: Foremost, the analysis of two important images—"ginseng" and "deer".In the second place, the analysis of the Chinese image is divided into the positive and the negative. In ginseng,Prishvin described a number of Chinese typical things represented by ginseng" and "sika deer".I try to figure out their symbolic meaning in China, and to analyze Prishvin’s profound meaning.Ginseng created a Chinese elderly man as his idealized figure, but he also showed his contemptuous emotion.I try to analyzes the two images of "Chinese" in ginseng. In the third part, based on ginseng and other works,I attempt to discuss Prishvin’s view of nature and its ideological contradictions. As everyone knows, the Prishvin’s works are mainly composed of prose and short notes, which means Ginseng is one of the few novels and a corpus of Prishvin’s thought. This part mainly deals with two problems: firstly, discussing the natural view of Prishvin;secondly, analyzing the contradiction of Prishvin’s thought.Prishvin’s view of nature is mainly two: the nature of "family-like concern" and the "unity of all things" thinking. These are expressed by Lu Wen’s in Ginseng and implied Chinese traditional view of nature. The ideological contradictions of Prishvin’s are mainly manifested in his love of hunting activities and the contradiction between "man and nature".As an eco-writer,his essay and his own words and deeds are often on behalf of a "non-ecological" thought, and that shows Prishvin’s limitations as a "pioneer of ecological literature".I attempt to analyze Prishvin’s research history in China by studying his novel Ginseng in this essay to expound his writing on China.Additionally,I will probe into the paradoxes in his works by virtue of Chinese traditional view of nature he revered... |
