A Study Of Modal Particles In The Story Of Children And Heroes

"Emv Yingxiong Zhuan" is a vernacular novel which written mostly in spoken Chinese in the middle of the nineteenth century,the language of the book reflected the basic appearance of Beijing dialect during the transition from ancient Chinese to modern Chinese,so it's very important in the history of modern Chinese language.The modal particles of the book are very distinctive,therefore,the purpose of this paper was to reveal the basic features of the modal particles in the book so as to make sure its role in Chinese history.And in order to describe the modal particles in detail,this paper adopts the method of combining statistical and qualitative methods,analyzed the sentence types and the tone of each modal particles.Then made a comparison research of the modal particles in "Ernv Yingxiong Zhuan" and "A Dream of Red Mansions",by comparison,we found that there were little classical modal particles left in "Ernv Yingxiong Zhuan",and the colloquial modal particles had taken most of the function,both of the modal particles in the two books had the same characteristics,however,the modal particles of the "Emv Yingxiong Zhuan" were more closer to the modern Chinese particles,Therefore,the modal particles of the "Emv Yingxiong Zhuan" had played an important role for the formation and improvement of the Chinese written language.
