Chinese modal particle is one of the important characteristics that distinguishes Chinese from Indo-European languages. As the external form of mood, modal particles often help to express mood at the end of a sentence or in a sentence.Modern Chinese language plays an important role in Chinese language evolving history.Based on the existing researches, this paper makes a comparative study on the meaning and functions of sentences-ending modal particle in modern Chinese language as "Ah(?)”as well as its phonemic variants "Yah(?)","Wow(?)","Na(?)".Ernv Yingxiong Zhuan(???????)was specially chosen as an expected corpus.Based on the collection of the modal meaning, distribution of located sentence types and using of the "Ah(?)"-type sentences-ending modal particle,it describes and analyzes the modal meaning as well as expressive function of the modal particle "Ah(?)" along with the sentences where it locates, preliminarily finds out the modern evolving path of the "Ah(?)"-type modal particles well as their relating sentence types. The basic conclusion of this paper is that the modal particles as "Ah(?),,"Yah(?)","Wow(?)","Na(?)" have not yet formed a stable relationship between noumenon and variation at the time when the book is completed, but "Yah(?)","Wow(?)","Na(?)"have begun to integrate into the phonetics change system of "Ah(?)".According to the results of semantic and pragmatic studies, different "Ah(?)"-type modal particles have different choices for sentence types.Any combination of them with different discourse components can lead to differences on modal meaning and functional expression. This paper is composed of five parts. The first part is the introduction which summarizes the literature review of modal particles, research objects, research significance and research methods. The second part is the overview of the study in modern Chinese modal particles and the "Ah(?)"-type sentences as well as the representative researches of the mood system in China and abroad. The third part is the analysis of individual mood particles as well as their relating sentence types in "Evnv Yingxiong Zhuan(???????)".After counting the frequency of the mood particles used in the book, the description and analysis of their relating sentence types are discussed one by one.The fourth part is the discussion about relationship between the choices of mood particles and the function expression with its relating sentence types. The fifth part is the conclusion.
