The 9th Mao Dun Literature Award: Writing "Chinese Spirit" In Literature

"Chinese spirit",a new proposition put forward by secretary general Xi,is the achievement of literature and art development under specific historical era,which is a product of the sinicization of Marxist literary theory as well.In the "Literature and Art Symposium Speech",secretary general Xi systematically discusses five aspects related to literature and art: literature and the "Chinese dream",literature and the times,literature and the people,literature and the "Chinese spirit" and its relation with the leading of Chinese Communist Party.General Xi points out the problems in current literature and art works,and makes further instructions for the direction of literature and art works development in the new situation.At the same time,the "speech" has elaborated the core idea— "Chinese spirit is the soul of socialist literature and art ".The 9th Mao Dun Literature Prize was awarded after secretary general Xi's speech,which will inevitably represent the ideological trait of "Chinese spirit".There are 5 parts in this paper,including introduction and conclusion.This paper expounds the foundation of the 9th Mao Dun Literature Prize in chapter 1.From the proposal and connotation analysis of the "Chinese spirit",we can see that "Chinese spirit" is the fusion of the times and history.It is deeply attached to the national spirit and the spirit of the times.Undoubtedly,the connotation of the true unity of the true,the good and the beautiful constituted the foundation of the 9th Mao Dun Literature Prize.Followed by the analysis of the "Chinese spirit" that the 9th Mao Dun Literature Awards presented in chapter 2,it is the embodiment of aesthetic meaning of "Chinese spirit" based on the historical origin—people's orientation as the center of creation,and the discussion of the dialectical relations between the literature and the people,which demonstrates the core of the "Chinese spirit" is indeed people's orientation as the center of creation.As a national award,the 9th Mao Dun Prize was presented under the leading of "Chinese spirit".The appraisal criteria of it have profound meaning of "Chinese spirit".This paper illustrates the innovative spirit of winning entries in chapter 3.This part begins with the view of literary criticism— "of history,of people,of art and aesthetics" emphasized by secretary general Xi.A new point of the literary criticism is elaborated in detail.Meanwhile,the aesthetic connotation that the award-winning works embodied is analyzed.In this way the aesthetic quality of the "Chinese spirit" of literary and art is expressed.Through the analysis and discussion of the standards and winning works of the 9th MaoDun Literature Prize under new historical era,the author reflects the progression and innovation of "Chinese spirit",constituting the innovation of this paper.As an independent concept,"Chinese spirit" is originated by secretary general Xi who puts forward the new historical proposition— "Chinese spirit is the soul of socialism".Based on the summary about the literary thought of successive leaders,"Chinese spirit" is fully combined with modern and traditional Chinese culture,which injects new vitality to to the development of Marxist literary theory in China.Furthermore,it has great theoretical significance on development of contemporary Chinese literary theory.
