Research By The American Dia Art Foundation

The second half of the twentieth century,the World Art Center tends to New York from Paris.Arts in United States has developed by leaps and bounds.Art Foundation as an existing form of art institution,has played an important role in collecting,supporting,sponsorship art.Founded in 1974,Dia Art Foundation is very typical from collection to management.This thesis took Dia as the study object,trying to start from collection,combined the development of art history,explore the construction of its unique collection system.At the same time,divided the development of Dia into three phases,analysis the Foundation management,to clarifying the issues that are likely to arose from such institutionalized management.In this thesis,I will conduct a case study on the collection and management of Dia Art Foundation.First,analyzing the special historical conditions from aspects of political economy,ideology,culture and policy.Then figure out the establishment of Dia Art Foundation and the construction of avant-garde collection system.In addition,discussing the development of Dia from art director,the composition of the board of directors,the exhibition projects,the management and operation of museum,the financial situation,etc..Finally,from the perspective of contemporary art collection and the management of art institutions to make the conclusion.Combined with the characteristics of Dia Art Foundation,consider the universality of this unique model,transform the US experience into Chinese experience.
