Using the perspective of motivation and goals to study well-being has become a focus of recent well-being research. The theory of self-determination divides our goals into intrinsicl and extrinsicl goals basesd on their contents, and believes that the pursuit of them will have different effects on well-being.That is,the pursuit of intrinsic goals benefits well-beng and the pursuit of extrinsic goals relates to lower well-being.Although the research has made great progress in this field, there are many shortcomings in the research methods, research contents and the localization of the research.Based on this, this paper has carried out the following three studies using the method of correlation and experiment: study 1 aimed to verify the different effects of the two kinds of goals on subjective well-being using the cross-sectional metheod. The purpose of the study was to verify the applicability of foreign research results in China, and to clarify the inconsistencies in the existing relevant research results in China.Study 2 aimed to verify the effects through e xperimental method. The study first activated the goals and the witnessed its effects on subjective well-being;Study 3 aimed to study the inpacts of the pursuit of intrisic and extrinsic goals on the interpersonal judgment.Using the activating metheod used in Study 2,the study first activated differernt goald and the saw if the activation would influence the preferences of others, trying to provide an explanation of the effects of intrisic and extrinsic goals on well-being through the interpersonal relationship perspective.Through the above research, this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)women care more about intrinsic goals and are happier the men.(2)Instrinsic goals correlate positively and signifantly with well-bieng and correlate negatively and significantly with ill-being;extrinsisic goals correlate positively and signifantly with well-bieng and are unrelated to ill-being(3)internal goals can predict well-beng postively and ill-being negatively;extrinsic goals can predict ill-being postively and cannot predict well-being.(4)The activation of instrinsic goals lead participants to have more positive emotions compared to the activation of extrinsic goals, but the activation of extrinsic goals do not lead participants to have more negative emotions compared to the activation of extrinsic goals.(5)The activation of instrinsic goals lead participants to make more “like”responses compared to the activation of extrinsic goals;the activation of extrinsic goals lead participants to make more “unlike”responses both within the group and between the groups. The resonse time shows the same patterns.
