Misplacement And Utopia In The Opposite Position

The exhibition of Magiciens de la terre was held between May 18th,1989 to August 14th,1989 in the Center Pompidou and Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris,including over 100 artists from 47 countries.During the past 28 years,the exhibition arises piles of discussion,while there is incomplete information about it and no concerned research result published in China.This thesis intends to restore the real historical text of the exhibition,exploring the idea and working method of the curator,focusing on the core of comments and discussion to the exhibition,observing it with a developing perspective,reviewing its importance,reflecting in the perspective of exhibition history and curating research.We should enhance the cultural confidence and cultivate the national culture symbol,for the root of contemporary art should be in the soil of traditional culture.As for curating,the balance between the theory and the practice,the self and the other,the ornamental value and the readability is significant,because the theory method of interdisciplinary means a lot.Studying one case will help reviewing the exhibition history and know further about other important exhibitions.The purpose of this thesis is neither criticizing in a new perspective nor re-define it.The author just tries to recognize it in a more comprehensive way."Dislocation","Counterpoint" and "Utopia" is the summary of the exhibition after deep research,which show the equality and diversity of the exhibition,as well as the working method and attitude of the curator,together constituting the beginning and perspective of a deep research.
