Psychology and physiology of students from junior high school are undergoing a rapid development.With the fast developing of self-esteem,self-awareness and have a strong “adult sense”,students are getting to pay attention to their self-images and fear the negative evaluations from others.The concept of negative evaluation fear was derived from the researches of social anxiety and often being taken as the as the internal factor.In addition,researches about the negative evaluation fear so far is mainly about the relationship between the negative evaluation fear and fields such as psychological traits,test anxiety,social behaviors,sports and decision-making areas,while there are limited researches concerning the development of negative evaluation fear along with its related factors.The review part mainly introduces the theoretic basis,measurement methods and related researches of negative evaluation fear,peer rejection,academic achievement,self-esteem of academic achievement and social self-esteem,and provides basis for the study of assumption.The empirical part adopts questionnaire method to do researches which lasted three years.In Study One,we explored the developmental tendency of adolescents' negative evaluation fear,and the influence of peer rejection,academic achievement,self-esteem of academic achievement and social self-esteem on the development of negative evaluation fear.In Study Two,we investigated the relation between academic achievement and negative evaluation fear of adolescents;the mediating role of self-esteem of academic achievement;the relation between peer rejection and negative evaluation fear of adolescents;and the mediating role of social self-esteem.The conclusions of Study One--The tendency of negative evaluation fear and the influence of related factors on this tendency are listed below:(1)There was a significant increase of negative evaluation fear in junior students.The role of gender was important in predicting initial level of negative evaluation fear but not in the slope of the model.Girls demonstrated significantly higher initial level of negative evaluation fear than boys.(2)T1 self-esteem of academic achievement and T1 social self-esteem can explain the individual difference of the intercept and the slope of the tendency of negative evaluation fear.T1 self-esteem of academic achievement and T1 social self-esteem negatively predict the initial level and positively predict the slope.The conclusions of Study Two--Mediating effect analysis are listed below:(1)Academic achievement have a negative effect on evaluation fear,and self-esteem of academic achievement plays a mediating role between academic achievement and negative evaluation fear.(2)The negative evaluation fear exhibit an effect in peer rejection,and social selfesteem has a mediating role in the relation between peer rejection and negative evaluation fear.
