The embroidery of Yi nationality,which is an significant embodiment of Yi culture,forms one important part of tradition Chinese folk arts and crafts.The transition of Yi embroidery also displays the development of Yi culture.Under the influence of the tourism market in Chuxiong,Yi embroidery has become more diversified and modern while still preserving the traditional culture traits.Yi embroidery,as a tourism commodity,has experienced a significant development,which can be attributed to the regional advantages and tourism of Chuxiong.The change of tourism market spurs craftsmen and retailers of Yi embroidery to pay much attention to market profits and customers' demands,which has greatly improved the quality and sells of the embroidery.The enormous development of tourism market requires great efforts made to fit the demands of tourism market and customs as well as achieve desirable profits.At the same time,however,due attention ought to be paid to protect and inherit the traditional culture embodied in Yi embroidery in order to ensure that it can have a sustainable development.Employing research methods such as field study,literature review,summarization,the comparison and analysis of questionnaires and combining of subjects of marketing,tourism and management of culture industry,this thesis studies the transition of Yi embroidery in Chuxiong from the perspectives of anthropology and ethnology.The research content of this thesis includes the following four parts:firstly,the function of Yi embroidery has expanded from daily use to decoration purpose;secondly,its makers and recipients are not limited within the nationality itself any more;thirdly,its materials,picture and color patterns and skills are preserved to follow the tradition as well as adapted to innovate;lastly,the ways of its production and selling have become more diversified.This thesis also expounds on the gradual change and development of Yi embroidery in Chuxiong tourism market so as to put forward useful suggestions for the sound and scientific development of Yi embroidery.
