The object of this study is woven and embroidered butterfly pattern,and the time ranges in Qing Dynasty.Among the researches in the major of pattern design,the articles about butterfly pattern published haven t grown to a great number,while there is a huge number of the woven and embroidered butterfly pattern in Qing Dynasty retained,with a high level of the aesthetic value.Those are the resources of innovative design,because of which I regard it as the object of this article.I hope to study the woven and embroidered butterfly pattern in Qing Dynasty from the aspect of history and culture so as to get the solid foundation and basis of the innovative design.I summarize this process into three stages:the reverberation,evolution,and the design innovated from the woven and embroidered butterfly pattern in Qing Dynasty.The content of this paper is divided into three parts:First,pattern analysis of the"Hundred Butterflies Filled in Flowers" in "Dream of Red Mansions";Second,induction of the rules of pattern evolution;Third,exploration and practice of the innovative design of the traditional patterns.In the study,I used the methods as ascending documentary,comparative research and empirical research and so on.I select the novel "Dream of Red Mansions",which was made in the Qianlong era in Qing Dynasty and reflected the history of Jiangning Weaving Organization as a beginning of my study.By analyzing the patterns of "Hundred Butterfly Filled in Flowers" in "Dream of Red Mansions",I proved that the pattern of "Hundred Butterfly Filled in Flowers" is of real existence in the era reflected by the "Dream of Red Mansions",and it belongs to the craft of Nanjing brocade.Combining the textual research,comparison of the cultural relics and technology research,we can reproduce the image of the literature and explore a richer cultural connotation from the pattern to increase the conformed attributes and cultural color for the Qing Dynasty embroidered butterfly pattern,and serve for the innovative design.In order to find out the characteristics of the times and explore its origins through the accumulation of the data of the Qing Dynasty embroidered butterfly pattern,this paper analyzes the evolution rules of the embroidered butterfly pattern in the Qing Dynasty,and demonstrates the cultural selection and adaptation principle behind the pattern evolution by contacting its historical background and comparing its tributaries.On the basis of the above analysis,the author further analyzes the characteristics of the pattern modeling evolution and its techniques of expression,and analyzes the influencing factors reflected in the process of the formation of the embroidered butterfly pattern in the Qing Dynasty from three aspects:butterfly's painting manifestation mode,pattern expression method and pattern application technology.In the innovative design,the author found that the pattern of "Hundred Butterfly Filled in Flowers" is the motif of the three connected dimensions of "historical origin","cultural connotation" and "craft realization" of the "Butterfly pattern of the Qing Dynasty".Regarding the pattern of "Hundred Butterfly Filled in Flowers" as the motif of the innovative design is conducive to the development of innovative design in a broader historical background,deeper cultural connotation,more specialized areas of technology.This,in turn,validates the need of a three-in-one framework of study,textual research,and design.
