In modern society, with the spread of psychology and that widely accepted by the public, people are likely to pay more attention to their emotional state. The emotional events which affect individual's state of mind can be more profound, more vivid and more instructive than neutral events. Then, emotional memory will affect many choices and decisions by many personal topics such as perception, believes, self-concept, and mental health. Therefore, it is particularly necessary to understand the characteristic of emotional memory.According to the dual-process theory, there are two independent kinds of retrieving means: familiarity and recollection. Recollection which will promote the learning of new information, is a process with more certainty and assurance. In addition, emotional development theory emphasizes that only under the background of the development of individual, emotional events can be understand. The emotional memory of individual will be affected by the psychological and physiological reaction, the characteristics of individual, the primal social relationship, the cultural, society, and many other factors. Of course, the strength of emotional events, the valence and the relevance can also affect the individual processing of emotional events. Based on this, the present studies adopt complex emotional events video clips as the material, in order to better simulate the real scene of emotional events and promote ecological effect of the results. And Participants use imagination to establish correlation with the materials. Therefore, from the perspective of emotional development theory and dual-process theory, two studies were carried out to discuss the self-relevance factors which impact on the characteristic of emotional memory. The present studies adopt the revised "remember/know" experimental paradigm in order to discuss the self-relevance factors which impact on the characteristic of emotional memory. The 2×2 mixed design with the self-relevance and emotional valence as the independent variable was used in study 1 which made the subjects in self-relevant state and self-irrelevant state by controlling instruction to discuss the self-relevance factors which impact on the enhanced memory and the retrieving means of emotional memory. The 2 X 3 X 2 X 2 mixed design with the self-relevance,emotional valence, memory type of gist-detail and delay-test as the independent variable was used in study 2 which made the subjects in self-relevant state and self-irrelevant state by controlling instruction to further explore the self-relevance factors and the delay-test factors which impact on the emotionally enhanced memory and the trade-off effects for gist and detail of emotional memory. Through the analysis of experimental data, it is concluded that:(1)In self-irrelevant state, emotional memory (negative and positive stimuli)have better recollection than neutral memory, which shows the emotionally enhanced memory, EEM.(2)In self-relevant state, the recollection of negative emotional memory is better than the recollection of negative emotional memory in self-irrelevant state; then, the enhanced memory of negative emotional memory is more distinct.(3)The emotionally enhanced memory has a stability in the delay-test factors.(4)The emotionally enhanced memory improves memory not only for the recollection of gist, but also for the recollection of detail, with no trade-off effects. And the self-relevance factors and the delay-test factors have no effect on trade-off effects for gist and detail.
