The study of emotional memory has important theoretical and practical significance for adult individuals to better regulate emotion and more effective memory. However, most recent studies have looked at differences in the emotional memory preferences of young people and old people for words or pictures in a single paradigm. In order to further explore the emotional memory preferences of adults for different emotional materials, this study expanded the subjects to three consecutive age groups: young,middle-aged and elderly, and adopted two research paradigms. As well as two indexes of correct memory and false memory, the development characteristics and influencing factors of emotional memory bias in adults were investigated. The study completed two research tasks :Study 1: in the YES-NO paradigm, the images of human faces and natural scenes with different emotional potency were used. The developmental characteristics of emotional memory bias in 90 adults aged 20 to 88 years were investigated. The results showed that with the increase of adult age, correct memory showed a decline curve and false memory showed an inverted U curve.Middle-aged people have more false memories;2)adults have more correct memory and less false memory of natural scene pictures;3)Middle-aged and elderly people showed positive preference in the false memory of pictures, that is,the false memory of positive pictures was the highest.Study two: in YES-NO lexical paradigm and DRM lexical paradigm respectively. The developmental characteristics of emotional memory bias in 102 adults aged 20 to83 years were investigated using written materials. The results showed that the YES-NO lexical paradigm increased with the age of adults.Correct memory showed a downward trend;2)in YES-NO lexical paradigm, young people show negative preference in false memory;2)in DRM paradigm, adults did not show positive preference. The conclusion of this study is that correct memory of adults shows cognitive aging, emotional preference occurs in false memory, and young people have negative preferences in YES-NO lexical paradigm.Middle-aged and elderly people showed positive preferences in the YES-NO image paradigm.
