Since the 1970 s,with the improvement of people's living standards and the popularity of television,the documentary form of art has been appearing in the cinema,also prevailing on the TV screen.A number of well-known documentaries,such as "Odyssey of The Great Wall","The story of the Yangtze River","The Silk Road",not only bring people a rich aesthetic experience and delightful spirit enjoyment,but also as an aesthetic ideology,play a vital role in the spread of the local mainstream culture,which is becoming increasingly indispensable with the TV technology available to the ordinary family and documentary creative techniques continuingly improved,so it can be said that through the historical and cultural documentary people can see the essence of Chinese culture.Among them,the historical and cultural documentary featuring historical massiness and richness contributes uniquely to the construction of cultural values,??beyond the other types of documentary.At the same time,as a documentary film,it is an ideological carrier,functioning for moral,intellectual,and aesthetic educations.It is by adhering to the characteristics of education,communication and aesthetic that it shows the reflection on human 's modern society,history and culture,being a clean stream on the screen prevalent with modern social consumer culture and television entertainment programs,which is so precious.Since the 1980 s,China's historical and cultural documentary film creation has been developed in a real sense."The Silk Road" co-produced by China and Japan has greatly influenced the film and television industry,indicating the way forward for the early development of our historical and cultural documentary.But following "The Silk Road",a number of homogeneous works were produced,until the appearing of "Odyssey of The Great Wall",which further consolidated and promoted the influence of the historical and cultural documentary.Since the 21 st century,with the continuous development of Internet technology,film and television new media technology has also been greatly improved,and to a large extent,the technological change has promoted the development of the film,so the historical and cultural documentary also has made great progress both in quantity and in quality.Mainly taking the author's practice work-"Spring Garden Hall" as an example,this article combines theory and practice.In terms of structure,this article can be divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,analyzing the research background,status,ideas and methods;The second chapter is the overview about historical culture documentaries,analyzing the definition of the historical and cultural documentary,the development process and the "Spring Garden hall" introduction;The third and fourth chapters are the key chapters of this article,intensely using the practice shooting case of "Spring Garden",illustrating the history and culture documentary's creation from the early planning to the late shooting by practice.Besides,this article analyzes the creative strategies of the historical and cultural documentary,respectively from the aspects of documentary form and narrative technique.Finally,the fifth chapter,based onthe previous research,gives suggestions for the future development of such a kind of documentary,hopefully providing some reference to historical and cultural documentary's development in the future.
