In recent years,with the development of China's economy and the rising of China's international status,Chinese culture has been accepted and recognized in increasing communication among different countiries.Korea and China both belong to Sinosphere,and in Korea,Chinese teaching is in great demand.CPIK(Chinese Program in Korea)project dispatches about 300 Chinese-volunteer-teachers to Korea every year.Teachers have been distributed to elementary and middle schools in all areas of Korea,with the primary level students as the teaching objects.So the study of elementary Chinese teaching in Korea is an indispensable part in the field.The paper begins with the characteristics of Chinese learners in Korea and studies the application of interest principle to teaching.Besides,it takes advantage of interest to simulate students' passion in learning so as to solve problems in Chinese class and achieve good teaching effect.This paper consists of five parts: the first part describes the background and the significance of the research.And it reviews the previous studies of interest principle in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The second part states the definition and features of interest principle.It explains the necessity of applying interest principle in Chinese teaching from three aspects: students,teachers and learning features of Chinese.And it puts forward the requirements of interest teaching for teachers' expertise,work ethic and attitude.The third part analyzes the characteristics and teaching situation of Chinese learners at different ages in Korea,on the basis of which the author presents a number of teaching techniques and teaching methods.The forth part is the application of interest principle to Chinese teaching.The author gives illustrations from four aspects: the overall teaching design,the reflection of intrerest in teaching process,specific methods of interest teaching and the teaching design of the first Chinese class.The fifth part simply summarizes the significance and results of the research,and reflects on limitations of the study.The thesis combines the theories with practice which come from the author's work exprience in Korea,and anylize the applying of interest principle in Chinese teaching.The author try to find out effective strategies of Chinese teaching in Korea,improve the quantity of teaching,arouse the study interest of students,and make students keep enormously enthusiastic on Chinese-learning.
