Discourse Analysis Of Editorial Comics Communication

Editorial cartoons use visual image to express news commentary,transfer attitude,and guide the public opinion.It presents a concise and lively result in the artistic form of exaggeration and deformation.As a typical representative of editorial cartoons,Pulitzer editorial cartoons,with the sharp attitude and rich connotation,often reveals the essence of social problems trough the critical content,so it has got more and more attention.Compared with the traditional text comments,what are the characteristics of editorial cartoons?And what are the similarities and differences between the two?Will Editorial cartoons replace text comments in the end?Discourse analysis is the practical application level into the language of discourse from the perspective of text and context of system analysis,In this article,the author will extract 178 works of the Pulitzer prize-winning cartoons by the method of sampling,and uses the News discourse analysis theory from Teun A.Van Dijk to analyze the structure of text comments and editorial cartoons.In addition,the author to realize the theme of the two direction,by adopting the combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,and research the editorial cartoons contained in the social ideology.Finally,the author will summarizes the propagation characteristic.of editorial cartoons.
