Research On Tibetan Arts And Crafts In The Sakya Period

Tibet is located in the Qinghai-Tibet plateau.It's average elevation is above 4 km.It is bounded by India,Nepal,Sikkim,Bhutan and Myanmar on the south curtained off by Himalayas and it's the neighbor of Xinjiang,Qinghai,Sichuan and Yunnan provinces on the north and east.The history and culture and the special geographical environment created the Sakya Period Tibetan art's distinctive geographical features and artistic characteristics.This article mainly discusses the ecological environment of the development of Tibetan Arts and Crafts in the period of Sakya,the artisans in the production of Arts and Crafts and their inheritance,the performance of the skills and the characteristics of the formation of the Arts and Crafts,and so on.It's in order to clarify the inherent mechanism and external manifestation of the unique development of regional arts and crafts culture.First,analyze the main influence from the ecological environment of the survival and development of the Tibet Arts and Crafts in Sakya Period including natural environment,economic environment and social environment.The natural environment of Tibet of Sakya period deeply influenced the distribution of the Arts and Crafts.The different topographic features and climate created the different Arts forms of Tibet.The economic environment of Sakya period had improved much more than in the Split Period during to the addition to the Yuan Dynasty unified.Under the help of Yuan Dynasty,all industries in Tibet had a rapid development.It had close contacts with mainland and had frequent trade contacts with other peripheral areas at the meantime.The social environment of Sakya Period was relatively stable.Because of the jurisdiction of the central government.A long time of no-war and the emergency of theocracy provided a good opportunity for the development of Arts and Crafts.When the Sakya theocratic system was officially formed,arts and crafts of this period was influenced by Tibetan Buddhism.Tibetan Buddhism has prompted universal religious career to become a part of life,The impact of Tibetan Buddhist art of contemporary life,which involved many aspects.the art of Tibet technology emerged during the Sakya Tibetan Buddhist culture and became the mainstream aesthetic fashion in Arts and Crafts.Secondly,from the perspective of the art,analyze the process of Fine Arts in Tibet period begins and the shape of the Sakya technique.On the technical side,the aspect of shape and technique,Arts and Crafts of Sakya Period from focused on the analysis of the metal statues,costumes and accessories,craft Thangka,carving,ceramics,combined with historical records and the works of the Arts and Crafts in Tibet during the period of Sakya,trying to describe these techniques;in terms of shape,combined with a large number of Sakya period crafts as examples,the characteristics in the material,color,decoration and other aspects of the period have been discussed.Then,the production process of the Arts and Crafts of Sakya has been studied.In this period,the artisans included Tibetan Buddhist temple monks,folk artists and artisans from mainland and Nepal.They integrated different production processes into the Tibet culture and produced art works and crafts which were agreed with Tibetan's aesthetic.For instance,the architectural style and decor in the Xialu Temple which was repaired and expanded in Sakya Period reflected the Tibetan and Chinese style which mainly because the artisans came from different places.The inheritance ways of craftsmen are mainly divided into school education,Monastic Education,folk education.School education is mainly reflected in the mainland school with Tibetan students.The Sakya Monastery education is an example of temple education,the folk education is mainly as the Tsatsa and Mani stone sculpture as an example,with folk arts and Crafts heritage are briefly described.Finally,systematically discusses the formation of the style of Sakya period Arts and Crafts.To meet the different needs of all sectors of society,the Arts and Crafts of Sakya as a whole formed into a style which had both religious and secular.The communication style of Arts and crafts in Tibet during the period of the tribute trade,gifts,and other forms of craftsmen output into the mainland.And influenced on the arts and crafts at mainland.In short,Tibet arts and crafts of Sakya period was in the specific natural environment,economic environment,social and ecological environment under the conception of the regional arts and crafts products.An independent and distinctive character gradually had been formed in the Sakya brief period of historical development process.And it has a certain openness and influence.
