Abstract/Summary:
From a general or specific perspective, the mechanical art of Tibetan culture conveys in a physical, verbal and mental way, which means it presents the body, speech and mind.Among the whole Tibetan mechanical art,Tangka painting is an art form with Tibetan characteristics and it has a long history, profound contents as well as rich implications.During the 7th century, under the influence of inner culture, religion, economy, and policy as well as the educational borrowing,Tibet has made huge progress on its social development. Moreover, there is 1,500 years’ history for the establishment of Tangka painting’s art style and frame.Based on the practical Tibetan aesthetic standard,Tangka painting has learned the excellent culture from Nepal,Ladak and Mainland China, and drawn on the core art elements of them without any prejudice from the 7th century, and gradually formed a frame for this outstanding art style with its own distinctive feature.Furthermore,Tibetan Tangka painting has become a significant art style that represents the Eastern culture. There is a certain difference between Western culture and Eastern culture.Western people believe in Christianity and Islam, and their cultures mostly reflect the features of materialism. However,Eastern people believed in Buddhism, and their cultures mainly diver the ideas of idealism. As we all know, the biggest difference on the view and style of art between western and eastern countries is that: Eastern Artists tend to express their feelings through his or her art works, which also can be themed by Buddhism;but western artists tend to use the technique of perspective to describe the actual things, and th is technique fits with the science theories.Presenting art’s style and characteristic of its own culture through delineating and dyeing, the Tibetan Tangka painting and wall painting display the origin and historical development of Tibet as well as matters are related with realistic life such as Tibetan custom.Furthermore, delineating and dyeing are the most important components of Tibetan traditional art skills. However, many modern artists consider that Tibetan Tangka painting is incapable of presenting the stereoscopic pictures of actual life, and even believe that it is an art style of merely showing flat surface. Thus, the writer conducts a comparative research on the similarities between western art skills and Tibetan Tangka painting.Combining investigations and document surveys, this study aims to solve the question: whether the technique of delineating and dyeing can present the stereoscopic images of practical life or it is only a method of showing flat surface.
