The records of the Five Elements Chi in Han Shu(The History of the Han Dynasty),is one of the ten Chi written by Ban Gu.The Chi cited HongFanDaYi and recorded more than four hundred pieces of calamities from the first year of Lu Yingong in the Spring and Autumn Period to the end of Western Han Dynasty.The study of calamities,blessing and sorcery medicine was used to clarify the theory of Yinyang and Wuxing was compiled in this Chi by Ban Gu.The Five Elements Chi included the establishment of calamities and the theory of calamity explanation during the period of Former Qin dynasty and Western Han dynasty.In Confucianism,there are a lot of calamities and the Yingyang Wuxing thought were recorded.The Han Confucianism on the description of the disaster is only a means of how to interpret the theory of calamities as the key to the study of Five Elements Chi.This Chi listed the calamities in accordance with “Five Elements ”,“Five Things ”,“Huang Ji” three parts and attached to the relevant interpretation of Han Confucianism.Understanding and Studying Five Elements Chi is of great significance to better grasp the cultural thoughts of the Western Han Dynasty.The first part of this article discussed the academic development of the Han Dynasty and the reason of the study of the Five Elements Chi.In addition,commented on the research of the Five Elements Chi in the past,and summarized some academic views which obtained after the Five Elements Chi published.The second part was mainly based on the disaster of “Spring and Autumn”(which contained in the Five Elements Chi)to comparatively analyze the Dong Zhongshu,Liu Xiang and Liu Xin three of the disaster characteristics.According to the support of the different type of disaster and the individual selection from “Spring and Autumn” to explain the disaster by Han Confucianism,demonstrating the differences and characteristics of the explanation by Han Confucianism.The third part of this article is the background of the great unity.Combined with the struggle of the feudal state and the central dynasty in the early Han Dynasty,recorded the rebellion of Huainan King,Jibei King,the chaos of Wu Chu seven countries as a case,and then discussed the combinationbetween the relationship of rise and fall of a nation with calamities and the unified.The final part was based on the corruption of political in the last years of Western Han Dynasty.To analyze the consequence that the disaster as a power monarchical constraint means of social behavior turn to the tool of power struggle by using the theory of the combination of Yinyang Wuxing disaster thought and the stability of social order.This article arranged the calamities and corresponding person or thing,through the combination of ancient researchers on the different analysis and comparison of this Chi,recorded the contents of the disaster and the corresponding things,and in order to find out the fundamental relationship between Han Dynasty kings and social order.In the view of Han Confucianism,the “calamity” and “human events” are mutual correspond.This article is based on the Five Elements Chi,combined with other relevant historical contents to study the relationship of various types of disaster,constitute and human events,and then explored the standard and methods of calamities which demonstrated by the Han Confucianism.
