Liang Shuming's Comparative Cultural Methodology

Cultural issues occupy the most central position in Liang Shuming's thinking.he elaborated his philosophy and sought a way out for China through comparative culture.A lot of people pay more attention to his specific concepts of comparative culture while ignoring the methodology of comparative culture,which is the main concern of this article.the methodology of comparative culture mainly refers to what should be compared,how to compare it,and what theory is the basis of comparison.Which is the key to determining whether the comparative culture can be established.Therefore,it is necessary to discuss the methodology.Liang Shuming in his writings,especially "East-West culture and philosophy" and "the essence of Chinese culture" and other important works have explored the issue of cultural comparison methodology.The author intends to discuss Liang Shuming's comparative cultural methodology from three perspectives: comparability of comparative culture,concrete ways of comparative culture and ideological basis of comparative cultural methodology.The first chapter explores Liang Shuming's cognition of the comparability of comparative cultural from three aspects: the same-different relationship of comparative culture,the causal and phaseological characteristics of culture,and the position of comparative culture.The second chapter discusses its concrete comparison path and comparison method.The third chapter discusses the ideological foundation of Liang Shu-ming's methodology of comparative culture from the perspectives of will,intuition and rationality,supplemented by the concrete concept of comparative culture.Through the research on Liang Shuming's comparative cultural methodology,we can see that Liang Shuming attempts to observe each culture in a kind of relativism without core value.Although he attempts to avoid personal stereotypes by his cut-off path,it is impossible to have a totally objective and neutral attitude,There is always a certain degree of certainty in comparison and in some ways.Perhaps it seems that some of Liang Shuming's ideas are somewhat outdated,but their understanding of the comparability of comparative cultures,and especially their understanding of the cultural causal and property-related relationship,is still worth pondering today.
