Genre Analysis Of Chinese Colleges And Universities

The introduction of universities and colleges belongs to Promotional Genre Colony,which is a discourse aiming for centralized delivery of information.It plays a certain role in propagating the development of universities and colleges.The main communicative function of the introduction of universities and colleges is to propagate the universities and colleges,promote their reputation and influences,establish a positive image,and facilitate communication and cooperations among universities and colleges.Research of the discourse on the introduction of Chinese universities and colleges is relatively rare for the study of genre analysis in the field of foreign linguistics and applied linguistics.In this paper,based on the above cognitive attempt to use this paper as the blueprint to make full use of genre analysis theory,comparative analysis approach,qualitative and quantitative analysis approach.I select the top 100 universities from Chinese University Rankings in 2016 and then collect the introductions of the universities and colleges from their official websites,by the way of browsing and teasing out the top 100 university official websites.I shall get access to the university introduction materials,form the text format,establish a small corpus required in this study to analyze the communicative purpose,move step and discourse structure by combining with the theory of move step analysis and Generic Structure Potential and by using the research models proposed by Swales,Bhatia and Hasan respectively to find out the discourse structure and analyze the lexical characteristics,syntactic structure,and explore the rules of the discourse,stylistic features and linguistic features.Through the study of the introduction of Chinese universities and colleges,I hope to achieve the move in specific communication purposes,sum up the linguistic characteristics for the introduction of Chinese universities and colleges,analyze the differences between Chinese comprehensive and professional universities and colleges,at the same time,put forward constructive suggestions,opinions and outlooks.Thisstudy brings new inspiration to ESP teaching and provides a new perspective for ESP teaching,thus provides some references for the genre research of this category,and has some practical application.
