Faith, Ethnicity, And Harmony

This article focused on the ethnic identity of musical culture among the Taliu people in Yongsheng County of Yunnan Province which is unrecognized to be ethnic group,and analyzed its music from the integrated cultural angle of the Taliu people,interpreted the musical culture identity of Taliu Music by focusing on the insiders,and observed the ethnic identification process in the inner cultural construct from “natural person” to “Taliu people”.The article firstly combed the cultural elements of Taliu music that been reserved in different historical stages,and studied that the ethnic identification of which in a history angle is a dynamic,libratory,timely obscure and timely clear process;Secondly,the article studied how the holiness that the ancestors worshiped in their beliefs is constructed through rite sounds by analyzing the rite sounds,and studied the impact of ancestors' worship as a core cultural element to the ethnic identity of the Taliu people.Thirdly,disclosed the multi-layered,multi-ply,diversified cultural property of ethnic identity which puts the ancestors' worship as the core in the social structure by focusing on the folk music using concept of individuals and groups in social structure.Lastly,the article demonstrated the changing courses of Taliu music in the modern diversified culture,and review the Taliu people's cultural dilemma behind their requirements from the angle of performers' social identity and music cultural identity.In addition,the article emphasized the plyability,interactivity,integration of music and culture in Taliu people's cultural context from the angle of “Music is culture.” And seek a direct and effective explanation approaches for this issue comparing to “Ethnic identity” in the analysis of folk music.The writer thus continued the participant-observed,deep-described site investigation based on sociology,anthropology and the related theories,and conducted the analysis in the interdisciplinary theoretical background for the Taliu people's ethnic identity in its musical culture from a theoretical angle of “Insiders to Outsiders,Diachronic to Synchronic,Group to Individual”.
