No One Sleeps in Alexandria is the masterpiece of Ibrahim Abdul Majid,a famous Egyptian writer,and was chosen as one of the 105 best Arabian novels in the twentieth Century.By ingeniously combining historical materials and various popular elements,the author creates a soul stirring and thought-provoking work about friendship,love,religion,war and sin.On the premise of following the traditional narrative style,the author skillfully uses modern narrative techniques to form his own unique narrative art.This paper will discuss the narrative structure and narrative perspective of No One Sleeps in Alexandria,and analyze how the author constructs the narrative space,as well as the unique narrative techniques used.This paper is composed of three parts:the introduction,the theory and the conclusion.We mainly discuss the narrative art of the work from four aspects.In Chapter one,we discuss the narrative structure of this novel.The narrative structure of a novel is its framework,which is the construction of the story itself.In this chapter,mainly from two angles,namely deconstructing its multi-line narrative structure and deconstructing the inner psychological structure.The second chapter analyzes the narrative perspective of this work.The narrative angle of view is the angle of observing the story when it is narrated.This chapter will classify the different perspectives of this work,and describe the different effects and functions.The third chapter mainly analyzes the spatial structure of the story.In this chapter,we mainly observe the story space to show the psychological activities of the characters and promote the development of the story plot.The fourth chapter analyzes the narrative skills of the author in his works from narrative voice and narrative rhythm.
