This paper discusses the functional meaning of the special spatial objects, both thematic expression and narrative effect, parses that the specific space involves in the narrative process in what ways, studies text's space form how to construct the narrative text. The first chapter mainly discusses the spatial construction of xu's novels: "hometown" and "foreign land" space. The physical space in small “hulu” street and “huajie”, such as the old house, large stores, high gate house, stone dock, dahe hall, etc. not only is considered as the setting of the story, but also participates in the narrative process by representing character, drilling the theme implication, and storing and arousing the emotional memory. Foreign land space includes Beijing where numerous people hard struggle for their dreams and generally referring to the world. The edge of space in which "wandering" people live is the characterization of "edge" fate that "wandering" people never are able to enter the core area of Beijing. The world space that is Beijing, Jerusalem, also may be anywhere is presented by the "departure" narrative. In a sense, "world" space tends to be a future and utopian space and is the spiritual home which are put the wandering soul and disturbing spirit by the author. The second chapter explores the nonlinear structure in xu's novels how to increase the meaning space of the text from the space narrative structure. The nonlinear structure model mainly includes themes juxtaposed structure, circular structure and network structure, which setting a variety of structure modes breaks the narrative causality and making the coupling law to substitute for the dimensional feeling of the text. Text space is both extension the aesthetic imagination of readers and a need to serve the theme of the narrative, which conveys the tragic consciousness that the life fate can't be grasped and the spirit of soul isn't converted. The third chapter studies the correlation between the narrative space and narrative perspective. "I" with children or teenagers both participants as a story and as a firstperson narrator peek in the people and things around on high priority, such as in the attic, the tree, roof space, etc. Here, the restrictive of first person perspective was secretly make up to a certain extent by the commanding heights of the space. The narrative significance of superior physical space such as rent house, bridge, roof is discussed. These physical spaces are not only the survival circumstance characterization of characters but also help narrative Angle of view to carry forward narrative process and become a kind of narrative strategy to convey meaning, which influence the narrative effect. The fourth chapter mainly discusses the narrative function of spatial narrative image. "Church" is a non-physical space filled with the spirit and faith, and establish metaphysical "church"- the "spirit" relationship that is interpretable and elucidatory each other to cause that people think and express the philosophical proposition of ultimate meaning of life about pursuing spirit and faith. "Dust" is an important image in the medium-length novel "running through zhongguancun" in which paragraphs about sandstorm environment description is true natural environment. In the meantime, it is also the double reference of "wandering" people's bad living space and indefinite individual identity. Whether the entity's thunder weather, or dream and memory thunder and lightning, due to the synchronic characteristics of psychological experience, across the past, present and future of time and space, and make the story in the synchronic space to present the juxtaposed narrative effects between reality space and memory space. "Train" is a traffic tool to achieve space transfer and a space link between "home" and the world. It represents the infinite broad and never end of freedom, run away, the world, and is also a symbol of straying spirit and wandering soul forever.
