The Japanese seem to have almost neurotic sharpness and worship for nature.Natural beauty is the prototype for all forms of beauty and the artistic beauty of the underflow in Japanese literature.Nagai kafu who is noted for pathos and decadence is representative writer of the Japanese aestheticism literature.He has extremely delicate sense for nature and gorgeous colors.He regards nature as part of his creation profession.He describes the ethos of the Edo period,tastes exquisite feelings from snow,moon and flowers and enjoys the infinite melancholy from the seasonal cycle.This thesis is grounded on.description of the beauty of nature,strives to explore the symbolic existing natural image of works and tries to analyze the reasons for the natural aesthetics in Nagai kafu's works.This thesis pivots around the natural aesthetics in Nagai kafu's works and aims to interpret the nature in works.This thesis consists of the following five parts.The first part is a brief introduction to this thesis.It includes a brief introduction to Nagai kafu,the background of his writings and the current research situation,the research methods and the research significance of this thesis.The second part discusses Nagai kafu's nature writings from two elements in Nagai kafu's works:the first section is the sorrowful and mysterious Japanese tradition beauty.This section analyses the rain,snow and Sumida River in his woks from the sorrow through the rain,the motivation of Sumida River complex's and evils in black and white word.Based on this,we can appreciate the Japanese tradition beauty.The second section is the exoticism and the Japanese tradition beauty.This section grasps natural aesthetics from colorful natural and dry light deciduous feelings.The third part analyses the function of nature writings in Nagai kafu's works.This chapter is divided into two parts:the influence of natural description on character psychology and character images and a perfect fusion of nature writings and story plots.This part grasps the deep meaning of nature writings in Nagai kafu's works and reveals the value of nature writings through the method of close reading.The fourth part explains the causes of Nagai kafu's attitudes towards nature.This chapter analyzes the causes of the growth environment of writer,the tradition of oriental aesthetics and the influence of western writers.The fifth part summarizes the significance of the view of nature in works of Nagai kafu.We can conclude from the connotation of life philosophy,ecological aesthetics implication and cultural anthropology to explain the value and significance of Nagai kafu's view of nature.The last part summarizes the full text,reaffirms the importance of research about natural aesthetics in Nagai kafu's works and reveals the significance of natural description to the whole works.Nagai kafu lives from Meiji to Showa and creates substantial works including poetry,prose and novels.Works of different periods reflect different ideological content,artistic style and aesthetic taste.This thesis takes natural aesthetics in Nagai kafu's works as the research object and analyses the reasons for the differences of natural aesthetics in different periods.We can feel strongly as a poet and novelist Nagai kafu's unique glamour.
