| Thomas Munro,founder of the American Academy of Aesthetics,played an important role in leading and developing American aesthetics during the Second World War and the postwar period.Munro is an important pioneer in the study of comparative aesthetics in western civilizations,his "Oriental aesthetics" is the first western comparative systematic discussion on Oriental aesthetics,which conveys such a sense of discipline that aesthetics cannot,as in the past,merely focus on Western regional artistic experience,and it should incorporate oriental aesthetics into it,Establish a universal aesthetic theory that transcends the narrow regional limitations of the West.The study of Munro's Aesthetics in China is still weak,especially the clue to the development of the aesthetic trend from the scientific aesthetics to the cross-civilization comparative aesthetics,and then to the study of Oriental Aesthetics.Munro's Oriental Aesthetics is the natural extension of its scientific aesthetics,it is based on Munro's own rational reflection on the east-west art intuition,from the objective conditions,the two-way communication between East and West art has been long and frequent,plus the large number of academic achievements accumulated by the rise of comparative Study of Humanities.It lays a foundation for Western scholars to deepen their understanding of oriental aesthetics.Munro's Oriental aesthetics,which is essentially a cross-civilization comparative aesthetics,aims to break through the western central theory,transcend the narrow regional limits of Western aesthetics,and,on the basis of the Oriental aesthetics,observe the artistic phenomenon in a broad global perspective,and then establish the theory of aesthetic discipline with universal significance.The study of Munro's Oriental aesthetic thought has important academic value and urgent practical significance for promoting the development of Chinese and Western comparative aesthetics and expanding the national discourse power of China's aesthetics. |
