The Impact Of Different Decision Scenarios, Self-construction And Target Types On Confirmatory Bias

The purpose of this study is from the decision situation,personality traits and decision-making deviation three aspects to discusses the impact of self construal on confirmation bias(evaluation bias)in different types of decision-making,and make a empirical study.In this study,experimental methods were used to divide the two experiments into individual decision-making situations and group decision-making situations.Among them,the experimental 1 decision situation is 2(Independent vs Interdependent Decisions)x2(self construal: independent self construal VS interdependent self construal)two factors between groups of experimental design.Experiment 2 used in group decision making situation is 2(group vs.individual goals)x2(self construal:independent self construal VS interdependent self construal)two factors between groups of experimental design.The between subject variable are the decision type and self construal.The independent variable is the decision type and self construal;The dependent variable is the confirmation bias.In the experimental 1,the results showed that the interaction between self construal and decision type was significant.The simple-effect results show that the deviation of self-constructed dependents was significantly higher than that of independent self-constructed individuals when making independent goal type decisions.The results showed that compared to the interdependent self construction of individual,independent self construal individuals to make independent decisions,there will be of less confirmation bias.When making the decision of the interdependent goal,the individual in the oriental cultural background,whether it is the type of independent self construal or the type of interdependent self construal,has no difference confirmation bias in the decision.In the experimental 2,the results showed that the decision type is leading to confirmatory deviation occurred an influencing factor.In the context of group decision-making,independent self construal individuals showed less confirmationbias when they made a group compared to an individual goal.
