Research On The Concept Of Western Feminist Rights

The development of West Feminism Thoughts (WFT) can be divided into three main periods. It is believed that WFT germinated between the late nineteenth and the mid twentieth century with the enlightenment of Libertarianism; the second period of WFT, mainly emerged between 1960s and 1980s, includes such main genres as Marxist Feminist, Socialist Feminism, and Radical Feminism; the third period of WFT raised since 1980s with the core thought of Postmodern feminism.These three periods are not only the reflections of self-liberation and self-salvation but also the historical milestones of human civilization development. With the progress of woman movements, the impacts of feminist movements have been enlarged from political field to cultural field. The traditional meaning of "feminism”can therefore no longer cover all terms. Hence, this essay uses "feminist" to denote"feminist movements" .The concept of right is consisted of subject, right consciousness, scope of rights and content of the right. In terms of subject, subject consciousness has three processes: the sprout time, mutilation of subjectivity and integrity of subjectivity; in the perspective of right consciousness, the change of women's view of equality could imply their right consciousness. The view of equality developed from identical view of equality, equal view of power and eventually enhanced to various equal views; as for scope of rights, woman's scope of rights varies with different social activities and social status, which is able to offer women more free space; when it comes to content of the right, woman' s right claims contain social power, property right and personal rights.Theoretically, women's pursuits of equality have transformed from formal equality to essential equality and eventually to various multi-equalities. The similar process can be observed in practice. The acquisition of women rights has converted from the original formal political rights to welfare states'hypocrisy compensation,and eventually to real participation in political life. Nevertheless, due to the obstinate male chauvinism and the long-term oppression of patriarchy, equal rights for men and women are still beset with such difficulties as recessive discrimination. The reconstruction of female's concept of right should contain four parts as follows:subject, right consciousness, scope of rights and content of rights. In addition, it should be procedural rights for which women are and will be endeavouring.
