American Environmental Diplomacy Research During Obama's Administration

Entered the industrial age,world economic has been developed rapidly.However,at the same time,the environmental degradation has become more and more serious.Nowadays,global environmental problem can't be ignored anymore,if this problem can't be solved,then it is possible to lead to the breakout of political and economic crisis of mankind.In order to maintain the survival and development of human,ensure national security and promote harmonious development of the international community,all countries must conduct cooperation on environmental protection.Since 1960 s,Environmental diplomacy has become a new mode of diplomacy in the conduct of international relations and has become equal important as traditional diplomatic issues such as national sovereignty,national defense safety,and ideology.Nowadays,the environmental protection operation has infiltrated into political,economic,and diplomatic fields.However,at the same time,competition in the environmental protection field is getting fiercer.All countries have sharp differences on the responsibilities of environmental pollution,financial and technical assistance to developing countries and development of economy and society.The global environmental governance will be a long and tortuous process.The United States has established dominant position in international political,economic and military fields in the world,so it occupies a very important position in the international environmental filed.The environmental diplomacy of the United States rose in 1990 s,from Nixon to Obama,all US presidents has drew up environmental policy.Since the inauguration of the Obama administration,the environmental problem has regarded the same as important as national security.The environmental diplomacy of US has entering into an unprecedented boom period.However,because of the influence of domestic politics and traditional diplomatic thoughts of America,the environmental diplomacy of Obama administration is still pursuing the principle of supremacy of national interests.Understanding the environmental diplomacy of US can help us know about the current situation of global environmental governance and the development direction of environmental diplomacy of our country.
