In the contemporary society in China,an issue around rearing the elderly that is facing us is getting increasingly grimmer.However,there is still room for improvement in the current law and supporting system concerning the issue.I thus think about the ancient system of rearing the elderly.Lasting for 1thousand and 400 years from its official forming in the period reigned by Emperor XiaoWen to its ultimate demise in the late Qing Dynasty,the System of Permitting Culprit to Support Lineal Elders has its rationality and inevitability.However,the formation and application of a system cannot do without the social soil.If the system is forced to be applied to the modern society,a scenario of not matching with the current social reality will occur.So I try to get into the system to take the essence,and taking the contemporary social reality into consideration,rethink and reconstruct it in order to help to solve the social problems at the moment.First of all,I introduce the historical evolution of the System of Permitting Culprit to Support Lineal Elders,and study and analyze the changes and differences in the different historical circumstances and different historical periods,indicating that the specific system will change in accordance to the changes in historical atmosphere.So today what we have to learn is not the system itself,but the system which contains the essence of thinking.Secondly,I make a concrete analysis on the feasibility of the contemporary reference to the idea of Permitting Culprit to Support Lineal Elders,and start from the two aspects of reality and theory,and expound the realistic and theoretical needs of the contemporary reference.Thirdly,I analyze the value of the idea of Permitting Culprit to Support Lineal Elders,and expound the positive value of the idea of Permitting Culprit to Support Lineal Elders thought on the contemporary society and examines the negative effect that it may bring.Finally,based on the contemporary social reality,I put forward the scheme of establishing the modern system of Permitting Culprit to Support LinealElders from two aspects of entity and procedure.
