Study On Mechanism Of Promoting Family-based Support For The Elders In Wuxi Nanchang District

The stern situation of the aging population is making it increasingly difficult for the traditional pattern of family support for the elders to function properly. The family-based support pattern merged both advantages of family pension providing and aged service providing which has drawn the attention and won the recognition from the whole society. Because it not only conforms to the general conditions of the population in our country, which can be described as aging but not yet affluent, but also it meets the various requirements of the elders.This article traces back to the definition of the family-based support for the elders and analyzes the features and advantages as well as the challenges and difficulties that the family-based support is confronted with. Then this article talks about the theories of community service, community governance, new public service and welfare privatization. Finally it finds out the essential and key points of the family-based support for the elders by comparing the experiences of both at home and abroad on the promotion of the family-based support for the elders.This article takes Wuxi City Nanchang District as an example and undertakes the study on the mechanism of promoting family-based support for the elders. It carries out in-depth investigation and research based on the current situations of population structure, family-based support for the elders as well as the promotion mechanism in Nanchang District. Taking into the consideration of the aspects including the driving force, main promotion body, operation management and social participation, it makes a thorough analysis of the crux concerning the lack of driving force in the promotion of family-based support for the elders. It also clarifies the different roles of the government, the market, the community as well as the family in the promotion of the family-based support for the elders. At last it puts forward some practical countermeasures and suggestions on how to construct the effective promotion mechanism.Quite a few scholars have conducted in-depth research on the topic of family-based support for the elders.
