Otaku is referring to a specific group of people who are affected by Japanese otaku subculture. Otaku in China is not only related to its origin in Japan, but also deeply influenced by Chinese Internet encyclopedia. The most significant feature of Chinese so-called Otaku is that they are more or less indulgent in online games. And in the process of network game, otaku also created a network game fan culture circle.Online games is different from the single player game.Limited by the game, the Otaku must interact with other players in the online game.Online games is a virtual community where Otaku are free to communicate with each others and getting socialized. This paper mainly analyses the dialogues of Otaku to understand how interpersonal communication happens in online games. Furthermore, based on Dramaturgy of Goffman and Communicative action theory of Habermas,the project of the paper is to explore how online games influence Otaku real life in depth.The main research methods of this thesis are questionnaires method,case interviews and participant observation.Three chapters are included:the first chapter introduces the definition of Otaku and clarifies the connections between Otaku and online games. On basis of interviews, the main features of Otaku playing Jianwang (The name of a online game) are concluded. The second chapter analyzes the socialization taking place in dialogues. To find out who Otaku are talking to and what they are talking about, it is necessary to understand the communication methods and procedures. The third chapter focuses on the outcomes of communications between Otaku, that is, how communications arise from video games influence friendships and relationships in Otaku everyday life.
