Constructive play has some unique value to promote children's development of various aspects. Preschool teachers used more instruction words when they guided the constructive play. To a certain extent, teachers' instruction words directly affected the quality of teacher-child interaction and children's play behaviors.This study used qualitative research design. The researcher selected six classes from a kindergarten in Nanjing to observe the verbal intervention performance of the six teachers in construction room, and conducted interviews with teachers. Obtaining 246 cases of teachers' verbal intervention in children's play.According to the purpose of instruction, the results presented that teacher's instruction can be divided into three categories:exploring statement, strategic statement and assessment statement. Exploring statements include guiding, encouraging and inquiring ways. Strategic statements include suggesting, informing and commanding ways. The following cases are the four kinds of situations that teachers would intervene in the children's play. When accidents happened and negative or positive behaviors occured, teachers'direct guidance involved. Based on the different situations of verbal intervention to analyze the characteristics of teacher's instructions. Finding that in the process of guiding children's play, teachers used a variety of statement combinations to guide children rather than a single way. Teachers used four ways of expression under the same situation, while leading to different reactions of children. From the content of instructions, teachers pay more attention to children's building skills and the final building work rather than the process of the building. The factors that influenced teachers instructional strategies were teaching ideas, teaching experience and the children individuals.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of teachers'instructions and influential factors, the researcher made a reasonable explanation and analysis on the phenomenons of education. Meanwhile, some suggestions were proposed to promote the practice of instructional strategies, which lead to build the scientific concepts of education before its implementation, and pay more attention to the process and reflect upon its application. With the above statements, effective instructional strategies are expected in constructive play for the preschool teachers.
