Under the background of the higher education popularization,the quality of higher education has attracted the attention of all walks of life.College teachers are the main force to promote the development of higher education and improve the quality of higher education.Only good teachers can bring good education.Throughout the world,almost all of the world's leading universities have set up teaching professional centers to help teachers improve their teaching.Faculty development center is a specialized agency set up in colleges and universities to provide teaching and research services for teachers,and to promote teachers' teaching ability.In this study,33 faculty development centers which have been established in Jiangsu Province's colleges and universities as the respondent.By analyzing the information of 33 faculty development centers from their Web portals,and combining with interview of 8 University Faculty Development Centers to analyze its construction situation and discover the challenges in the process of building,then analyze the causes and propose some reasonable and achievable measures.The study falls into five parts as follows:the first is an introduction,presents the goals and significance of the research,literature reviews and research methods and so on;the second is the relevant content of the construction of University Faculty Development Center;the third is the present situation of the University Faculty Development Center;the fourth is the analysis of the problems and causes in the operation of the faculty development center;The last part is about the countermeasures of the construction of University Faculty Development Center in Jiangsu Province.According to the survey,the main problems in the construction of University Faculty Development Center in Jiangsu Province include four parts.The first part is about the basic settings:functional positioning is not clear,lack of school characteristics and so on.The second part is about human resources:lack of staff,low professional level,ignore the development of team and training tutor resource library need to be expanded and so on;the third part is about sector's cooperation:division of labor is unfair,inefficient and activities lack of innovation.The last apart is about the overall construction:the progress is unique and differ widely.The main reasons for these problems are the degree of recognition of the development of the center is not enough,the degree of specialization keeps very low and the phenomenon of "heavy research,light teaching" is serious.To this end,based on the education department,university,faculty development center and university teachers,some suggestions will be given.The education authorities should improve the relevant policies and encourage the development of the centers to form a coalition.Colleges and universities should increase awareness of the importance of teacher development center,optimize the center of the top design,rational allocate human resources of the faculty development center.Teachers Development Center should set the scientific and perfect job standards,perfect professional training of staffs,strengthen the cooperation with the faculty.College teachers should actively participate in the activities of the center,and constantly improve their own quality.
