This research is done by summing up the relevant literature review,collecting students' grades and doing family background questionnaire on three key middle schools(totally 270 students)in Wanzhou.After collecting all the materials,using the statistical software and contrasting the average scores and the eugenic rate,we can draw the conclusion of the relationship between family background and English achievements in Wanzhou,Chongqing.This paper includes five hypotheses(two proved,three partly proved):1)Single-child family's students do better in English than non-single children family's students.2)Parents family's children do better in English than Single parent family's children.3)Economic conditions have a great effect on students' English grades(girls less than boys).4)Parents,occupations have an effect on students' English grades(mother greater than father).5)Parents' degrees have a great effect on students' English grades(father greater than mother).6)Students have more English reading books and teaching and learning materials,and they will have better grades(girls greater than boys).7)Parents' participation in students'learning English has a great effect on students' English grades(boys greater than girls).8)The more time parents spend on children,the better grades children will have.9)The better relationship between children,the better grades children will have.10)Parents' teaching methods have a great effect on students English grades(mother greater than father).11)Parents' English knowledge reserves have a great effect on students' English grades.12)The students who have training classes after school have better grades than others.13)The single-child/non-single-child's influence on students is decreasing with age.14)The influence(parents'English knowledge reserves,English reading books as well as teaching and learning materials,parents' participation and their teaching method as well as the training classes students have)on students is increasing with age.
