As the rapid promotion of China's international status,more and more Chinese go abroad.This means it's eager for Chinese to improve their English.And the basic educations is the key of learning English.Meanwhile,the assessment of English teaching has a profound impact on English learning.So in 2001 the ministry of education published the English Standards of Full-time Obligation Education which indicates the assessment of English teaching must embody the process and the persistence of English learning,especially for the students,teachers and the school.However,due to various factors,many schools still adopt the summative assessment as the only method.The assessment of process of English teaching advances slowly in the Chinese primary school.And the implement of assessment of process has met many difficulties.Under the background of new English curriculum reform implement persistently in recent years,this study discusses the current situation of the English assessment of process in primary schools,and gives some suggestions on operations.And it is expected that the results of this study can bring some inspirations for the English teacher in primary school and give some suggestions for the curriculum reform.This study starts from the teaching implements.First,this study describes the background,the concept and the theory of assessment of process through collecting and consult the literature.Then this study researches the implement of assessment of process of primary school English teaching through class observation,questionnaire and other research methods.And from the result of the investigation,it's clear that the main problems of assessment of process in primary school English teaching is the concept,the criterion,the content,the methods,the subjects and the feedback of assessment.This study gives some countermeasures and suggestions to the primary school English teachers on how to implement assessment of process effectively in primary school English teaching.The main ideas includes scientific assessment concept,multiple subjects,personality criterion,overall content,comprehensive methods and feedback with high quality.
